 POWER TEE DRILL

PURPOSE:   To teach players to accelerate the bat through the baseball to develop more power.

EQUIPMENT:  Batting Tee, Power Balls (Heavy Ball), Plunger

SET-UP: The hitter takes stance at plate.  In order to successfully hold power ball on tee, a plunger can be placed upside down into the shaft of the batting tee.  The power ball is then able to rest on top of the plunger.

EXECUTION:  As hitter hits ball off the batting tee they concentrate on accelerating the bat through the ball.  Player may notice that upon contact the bat will lose speed and may even bounce back.  Player should concentrate on minimizing the decrease in bat speed and focus on not just hitting the ball, but hitting through the ball.

COACHING TIPS:  Have players work on driving the ball up the middle and to opposite field.  If a player can hit a home run over the center field fence they will most likely have power to all fields.

"Just like Power Soft Toss, hitter can work on maximizing power as they accelerate through the ball, since it is a Tee drill they can do it by themselves."
