VS. PITCHERS DRILL

ooNPURPOSE:  To give your players more experience facing live pitching.

EQUIPMENT:  None

SET-UP:  Hitter, Pitcher, and Catcher set up as if in a real game.

EXECUTION:  This is an excellent opportunity for your hitters to gain more experience facing live pitching, and in addition good for pitchers and catchers as well.  Pitchers from your team simply pitch as if it is a real game against your own hitters, kind of like an intra squad scrimmage.  You can choose to use defense, or not.

MODIFICATIONS:  To make the at bats go faster and get more players more at bats, start the count 1-1.

COACHING TIPS:  This is an excellent way to prepare your players in the pre-season and for you coaches in the colder climates it can even be done in a batting cage.

"A player can do drills until their hands blister, but there is simply no substitute for live at bats
.  Gaining experience facing live pitchers is crucial in a hitter's development."
