AGILITY GROUNDERS

PURPOSE:  To enhance ability to field ground balls and improve players footwork, quickness, and agility.

EQUIPMENT:  Glove, Ball, 2 poly spots of different colors

SET-UP: Coach should set up two poly spots in the infield approximately 10 feet apart.  Players should position themselves between the two poly spots in  a ready position.

EXECUTION:  Coach rolls or hits ground ball to infielder.  Once the ball is hit or rolled, coach yells out a color.  The infielder must run and touch that color with their foot, then field the ground ball.

MODIFICATIONS:  As players improve, coach can increase difficulty by rearranging the poly spots.  It can also be made more challenging by adding a third poly spot, or,  call out two colors and player must touch both before making the play.

"When players can consistently make plays on agility grounders, ground balls in a game will seem simple."

-Coach Tim
