 3-2-1 BOUNCE DRILL

PURPOSE:  A super effective drill that enhances developing players ability  to track the ball, adjust their feet, and pick out a good hop.

EQUIPMENT:  Softie Baseballs or Tennis Balls

SET-UP:  Player(s) line up in the infield. Coach stands at home plate with balls.

EXECUTION:  Coach throws the ball up in the air, as the ball is in the shouts out either 3, 2, or 1.  This number is how many times the fielding player should allow the ball to bounce before fielding it.  Coach can vary how high is throws are, what number is called, and can of course challenge players by making them run to the left or right.  Players will need to adjust their body, sometimes back up or charge hard to catch it in the appropriate number of bounces.

MODIFICATIONS:  0, 4, 5?  Keep the ball lower and rather than throw the ball in the air bounce it and call out the number.

"3-2-1 Bounce Drill is one of the most effective drills I have ever implemented when teaching beginning players that may struggle with basic skills."

-Coach Tim
