RAPID FIRE GROUNDER DRILL
PURPOSE: Improve on fielding ability with this fun challenge/competition.
EQUIPMENT: Softie Baseballs SET-UP: Players partner off and face each other approximately 10-15 feet apart. Each pair of players has one ball. EXECUTION: When coach says go, players roll the ball back and forth as quick as possible. Each time they must focus on fielding the ball cleanly and rolling the ball back to their partner. To make this FUN, players should see how many rolls they can get in an allotted time (30 seconds for example). Each time they execute the drill they should strive to improve. Rather than timing the player they can also race to a certain number of rolls. MODIFICATIONS: When attempting to learn proper techniques, a good starting point is to put players on their knee only 8-10 feet apart. Players should focus on reaching out to the ball to make the play, then rolling it back. "One of the biggest challenges in coaching Tee Ball is that it is often difficult to pair up kids to even play catch, but they can certainly have partners to roll each other grounders."
